Verizon-Cellular Plus at 1302 Prospect Ave will be giving away free backpacks filled with school supplies on Saturday, July 27 from 10am to noon. Verizon-Cellular Plus Backpack to School program is one that involves employees and customers right here in our community. A child must be present with an adult to claim their free backpack and no purchase is necessary to receive a backpack. Pilgrimage to the Holy Land Our Pilgrimage to the Holy Land through Good Shepherd Travel has begun! Rev Peter Miago said, “Tourists pass through places, but pilgrims let places pass through them, allowing their heats to be change.” May it be so so on our journeys in Israel or wherever life’s roads take us. After being delayed in Helena for three hours waiting for a flight attendant who did not arrive, we flew to Denver to meet Pastors Sonja and Joel Pancoast, tour guides, and 40+ Lutherans from Zion Lutheran, Loveland Colorado. Then we flew 9 hours to Munich Germany and than 3 more hours to Tel Aviv , Israel on the coast of Israel. Our final leg of the journey was a 2 1/2 hour bus to the Golan Hotel in Tiberius, which sits right in the west side Sea of Galilee ( also known as the Sea of Tiberius, named after the Roman Emperor.) After a tiring couple days of travel we ate a delicious buffet at the hotel and went to bed at 10:00 PM. The Pilgrimage has begun!

Worship with us this Sunday as we celebrate Pastor Brad's upcoming summer sabbatical. We as a congregation will pray a special litany for him at the end of worship and continue the celebration with a pie feast in the fellowship hall. We pray that this is a time of rest, renewal, joy, and learning and look forward to hearing all about your adventures when you return after labor day.

Our 4 years-K Sunday School class rocks! These kiddos raised money to purchase fish through ELCA World Hunger to help families in need. They raised over $500 dollars yesterday-which is two whole fish ponds. Thank you for supporting our kids. This is the church happening in the world right now and it’s looking pretty darn good.

I Cor. 1:3-4 Please remember in your prayers the family of Shannon and Pete Callahan. A family graveside service will be held for Shannon's mother, Jeannie Matthies, on Friday afternoon, May 10. Jeannie was a lifelong member of St. John's. She and Doug were married at St. John's. Friends are invited by the family for an open house to celebrate Jeannie's life on Saturday, May 11 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on the 6th floor of the Montana club. May God's peace comfort Shannon and her family.
We need help! Tomorrow, May 8th, we will box up all of our beautiful quilts so we can ship them off to Lutheran World Relief at the end of the week. We need more boxes and more muscles to help complete this project. The fun begins at 9:00 AM at church. Hope to see you there and THANK YOU!
